California Environmental Voters Endorses Amy Slavensky in Competitive AD7 Race e
SACRAMENTO, CA—Today, California Environmental Voters endorsed Amy Slavensky in the highly competitive race for Assembly District 7. This endorsement underscores the difference between Amy and the incumbent, who has a damning 14% lifetime rating.
“Folks in Assembly District 7 need somebody who’s ready to stand up for communities, not corporations,” said Mike Young, executive director of California Environmental Voters. “Amy has been fighting for the well-being of her community her whole life, even when it was hard. We know she’s up to the task facing the legislature to keep corporations accountable and put people first, from rising energy and insurance costs to pollution to disaster relief.”
“Anybody who denies the reality of climate change is turning their backs on our communities, and that’s what we have in District 7 right now,” said Amy Slavensky. “Californians can’t keep paying for climate change, especially when extreme weather strikes. We need lower insurance costs. We need to protect our communities from extreme weather that’s already making life more expensive and unsafe. I’m ready to put people first and hold corporations accountable.”
In addition to California Environmental Voters, Amy is also endorsed by the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, Climate Action California, and a robust list of labor unions whose members know that climate change is a health, safety, and affordability issue. Sacramento County’s climate risk has risen exponentially in recent years, especially for extreme flooding, wildfires, and heat, while also presenting an existential threat to the long-term viability of living in the region.
