Dark Money Group Continues to Lie About Amy Slavensky’s Record
SACRAMENTO, CA—This weekend, a dark money group largely funded by the Republican Party continued to lie about educator and AD 7 candidate Amy Slavensky. This brings their spending to $82,230 in another sign that Assembly District 7 is primed to flip in November, with Republicans vulnerable up and down the ballot to strong Democratic challengers.
This dark money group aims to overwhelm and distract voters from Hoover’s own disastrous voting record on everything from education to healthcare to affordability. Hoover voted against increasing per-student funding four times (SB 101 [6/15/2023], SB 101 [6/13/2025], AB 109 [6/15/2026], AB 157 [8/29/2024]). On healthcare, he refused to support preserving access to Medi-Cal for millions of Californians after massive federal cuts (AB 100 [4/10/25], AB 2208 [5/26/26], AB 116 [6/27/25]). On affordability, he refused to expand the Home Purchase Assistance Program (AB 1840 [8/28/24]) and increase renter protection (AB 2801 [8/28/24]).
“I know I have the facts on my side when it comes to my career and education record, unlike my opponent, and his dark money allies know that,” said Amy Slavensky. “District 7 voters want somebody who is in their corner, not in the pocket of the corporations and special interests. The fact that dark money is coming to my opponent’s defense tells voters everything they need to know about who he is and who he’s really working for in Sacramento.”
