Josh Hoover Violates Campaign AI FPPC Regulation

Josh Hoover Continues to Say One Thing and Do Another

SACRAMENTO, CA—Today, the Amy Slavensky for Assembly 2026 campaign filed a formal complaint with the FPPC against the Josh Hoover campaign for failing to disclose the use of AI in its latest attack ad.

This violation also comes after the latest legislative session where Hoover supported bills mandating social media safeguards for children and digital wellness instruction in schools, which emphasized the importance of critically evaluating digital and artificial intelligence content.

“This FPPC violation is more proof that there’s a big difference between what Josh Hoover says and what he actually does to serve his own purposes,” said campaign manager Sophia Wilson. “He said he supports teachers and students, but voted against more school funding four times; he says he cares about healthcare and affordability, but fails to support bills to keep premiums down. This ad is more of the same hypocrisy, with a funny twist —  who puts a public school educator of 40 years in culottes and black pumps?”

These ads from Hoover’s campaign are the latest in a stream of weak, misleading attacks targeting Amy. Dark money groups have poured in almost one million dollars to keep Hoover in power and almost $400,000 to attack Amy. This level of spending is more proof that Hoover and his allies recognize that the race for Assembly District 7 is a true toss-up in the final four weeks of the 2026 election.
